Málaga Travel Guide: Sun, Culture & Cheap Flights
Everything you need to know about visiting Málaga — from cheap flight tips to the best beaches, tapas bars, and day trips along the Costa del Sol.
Why Málaga?
Málaga is one of Europe’s best-value destinations for budget travellers. With year-round sunshine, world-class beaches, incredible food, and some of the cheapest flights from the UK, it’s no wonder this Costa del Sol capital is a favourite for weekend breaks and longer holidays alike.
Getting There
Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport (AGP) is one of the best-connected airports in southern Europe for budget airlines. You can fly direct from dozens of UK and European airports on Ryanair, easyJet, Jet2, TUI, Wizz Air, and Vueling.
Cheapest months to fly: January, February, and November typically offer the lowest fares. We regularly see return flights from the UK under £30 during these months.
Most expensive periods: Easter week (Semana Santa), July, and August see the highest fares. If you can fly mid-week instead of weekends, you’ll often save 30-40%.
Pro tip: Check nearby airports. Flying from Birmingham or Bristol instead of London can sometimes save you £20-40 on the same route.
Best Time to Visit
- March to May: Perfect weather (20-25°C), fewer crowds, cheapest fares
- June: Warm but not yet peak summer prices
- September to October: Still warm (25-28°C), post-summer price drops
- Winter: Mild (15-18°C), incredibly cheap flights, great for city breaks
Where to Stay
